About SLI

Mission

SLI’s mission is to improve classroom practice and district results. Our approach and methods are grounded in the best national research and the decades of experience that SLI leaders have had in education and business.  

SLI draws from both education and business research to identify best practices that work for Chicago schools. Combining twelve years of experience in the Chicago Public Schools and twenty years of business consulting background, SLI is prepared to help schools adopt the following hallmarks of high-performing organizations:

Stakeholder Participation: Those who do the daily work in schools participate in planning, designing, and making decisions about it;

Continuous Improvement: Stakeholders review results, adjust strategies, and improve outcomes on a regular, ongoing basis;

Teamwork: People inside and outside the school work together to achieve shared goals; and

Learning by Seeing and Doing: Site visits to exemplary classrooms and modeling give teachers a look at best practice “in action,” inspiring teachers to redesign teaching techniques.

SLI has been working with principals for the past ten years to help them lead improvement in their schools. We support principals’, parents’, and teachers’ learning by using our expertise, experience, partnerships, and other resources. We help school leaders create the opportunity for school staff and parents to improve their skills by learning from their peers and reflecting on their own experience.
